We left the school system because our children weren't being educated. We want them to love books, to treat culture with admiration, to treat every branch of knowledge as a source of wonder and as a step towards acknowledging the presence of the sacred.
This is the idea behind the Classical Christian education, but we found the school system to be an absurd mixture of mollycoddling childcare and brutal professional training, and we worried about the damage this was doing to our children.
At CC, we found a community of people who share our vision. Our job is hard, and it is frightening, but we carry on anyway because as TS Elliot said, "For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business." The good Lord takes care of the rest.
